Any Ideas?

So, I've got a little question for all, I mean both, of my blog readers. As many of you know, I started going to the gym in June to try to lose a little weight. It went well at first and I've lost 14 pounds. In September I signed up for a Bootcamp class that is totally KILLER! In the Bootcamp pamphlet it said you should lose between 1 and 3 pounds per week, so I thought by the end of September I'd be at my goal weight. Well, it's not happening. For the last 3 weeks I haven't lost a single pound. I do Bootcamp 3 days a week and then the elliptical machine the other 2 days. I'm only eating between 1200 and 1300 calories. WHY IS THE WEIGHT NOT COMING OFF? Roudy keeps telling me not to get frustrated- it took me 4 years to put the weight on and I shouldn't expect it to fall off overnight. But, I do! This is my first attempt at weight loss, so if any body has any ideas for breaking through this STUPID plateau, I'd really appreciate it! :)

ps. my gym membership ends the end of September, so if anybody knows of any great workout videos I'd love to hear about those, too! :)

Hey just remember that muscle weights more. I know this is tacky but, I bought Turbo Jam off the TV it promises 10 lbs 10 inches in ten days. I love it. It has a 30 min abs that is AWESOME! The gym didn't work to well for me either. I worked with a personal trainer for 6 months working out 2 hours a day and only lost 4 Lbs, so I totally understand your frustration. Good luck

Ha I think its funny that this is your FIRST weight loss attempt! How would that be:) I think its like my 45th attempt. I was also going to say Turbo Jam I love it it reminds me of knightline and my mma classes, it can kick your can if you REALLY do it not just dance around... you know what I mean, If you want I can mail you the dvd and you can try it to see if you like it. I wont be using it for the next month or 2 I get enough from jogging and mma. As for the weight loss I thought you looked great when I saw you but I totally get the reaching your goal thing, The last couple of pounds are the hardest, I think Roudy is right unfortunately. You could always join us in the half marathon I think Dawn (from playgroup) is going to do it with me. (No laughing Mindy, I know you could do it!) Well I'm totally putting off packing and checking my email like every half hour, I'm so lame:0) Well I better get scrubbin' pottys... FUN!

Mindy,
First of all, you look great! And congrats on your weight loss already! It really is such hard work. Running (I used to HATE it) works for me and I really have learned to love it and I crave it. The Special K diet (I know, sounds dumb) works! I am a believer! If you plateau, you gotta change things up. It's all about burning more calories than you take in. I know that kinda sounds insane but it's true. Cut portions down, try Special K, run. It's dang hard but it works. Keep us all posted on your success!

Wow, I think you're doing awesome! I wish so bad I was down to 1300 calories a day! I do LOVE the Biggest Loser videos. I think they're awesome and a way good workout. So if you're looking for a video, I definitely recommend it!

The Special K diet is that you replace two meals with a small bowl of special k and 1% or skim milk, then you eat a light lunch/or dinner. You can snack on fruits/veggies during the day or they have some great protein bars etc. I went a little psycho and didn't snack and replaced a meal with a snack bar...he he. So it's basically starvation. :) 400 cals on an eliptical is great...now just go like 5 or 10 more minutes each day and you can burn just a few more each day and I bet you'll see a difference. You also burn calories just by being a mom so you can count those calories too. On this diet, I also tried to not eat after 6 p.m. and I saw a change. Oh, and drink lots of water! :)
